Starting as a director in 1991 with his first film Nord, Xavier Beauvois is doubly nominated at the César for his work in front of and behind the camera. His second feature film won the Jury Prize in Cannes in 1995. The filmmaker then saw his work nominated at the César in 2005 for Le Petit Lieutenant before his fifth feature film Des hommes et des dieux won all the awards including the César for Best Feature Film and the Grand Prix in Cannes in 2010. He received even more international recognition from his BAFTA nomination that year. He returns to Les César in 2017 thanks to his seventh film Les Gardiennes with Nathalie Baye. Also a talented actor, Xavier Beauvois acted for Catherine Corsini, Jacques Doillon, Bernard-Henri Lévy, Philippe Garrel, André Téchiné, Bertrand Tavernier, Guillaume Nicloux or Roschdy Zem, with whom he collaborated six times during his thirty-year career.

Invited to the festival’s 10th anniversary in 2018, the « dirActor » also came to give a master class at Les Arcs in 2015 and was then our guest of honour.
