The "Femme de cinéma Sisley/ Les Arcs" award

In 2021, for the 9th year, the Festival, in partnership with Sisley, honoured an iconic female filmmaker from the independent European cinema, by rewarding her with the "Femme de cinéma" award.
Noting that women are still under represented within some fields of the cinema industry, this prize aims at sensitizing the media, the professionals and the audience to the talent of exceptional cinema women.
The winner was Croatian director Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović for her film Murina produced by Martin Scorsese and awarded the Caméra d'Or at Cannes 2021. The "Femme de cinéma" award was presented to her by Philippe d'Ornano, CEO of Sisley.
Succeeding Jasmila Zbanic, Lucie Borleteau, Malgorzata Szumowska, Iram Hacq, Claire Burger, Sarah Gavron and Agnieszka Holland, Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović has joined the list of directors rewarded in recent years at the Arcs Film Festival with the Sisley - les Arcs "Femme de Cinéma" Award.
The Lab "Femmes de cinéma"
Furthermore, the association Révélations Culturelles, organizer of the festival, has also created the Lab "Femmes de cinéma", with the purpose to encourage practices favouring a better representation of women in the film industry and to keep track of the emerging trends related to women directors.
The Lab is a think tank based on three pillars: a study on the place of European women directors, updated and completed every year; workshops conducted using collective intelligence methods to generate concrete ideas for achieving gender equality in cinema; and masterclasses to highlight particularly emblematic women directors who can serve as role models.
