ALL SECTIONS

Our eight films competing for the Crystal Arrow reveal the many facets of European cinema in 2025. Between reflections on how to live together, the awakening of desire, and political commitment, filmmakers are exploring with great sensitivity what lies at the heart of our humanity.

Presenting this short film competition reaffirms the essential place of this format in European cinema and the ever-renewed richness of short filmmaking. A young generation of filmmakers asserts its uniqueness through a daring mix of genres and forms.

The Hauteur section, with a capital H, aims to live up both to the height of our mountain peaks and to the high standards of creative, original, and inventive cinema that constantly renews itself. This year, we present six films in this section, a favorite among cinephiles!

The Focus section takes you to Greece, between idyllic landscapes and barren expanse, to meet a young generation searching for meaning in a country still marked by crisis. Supported by internationally acclaimed filmmakers, by the creators of the “Greek Weird Wave,” and by today’s emerging directors, this section offers a vibrant panorama of Greek cinema, both present and future.

This Focus is completed by eight short films that embody the essence of Greek creativity. They explore daily life, family, desire, myths and legends, as well as both meteorological and emotional storms. Featuring established filmmakers alongside emerging voices of Greek cinema, the shorts in this focus speak volumes about the bright cinematic future of Greece.

Each autumn, every country selects one film to represent it in the race for the Oscar for Best International Feature Film. We invite you to discover a selection of these titles, films considered among the very best of their respective nations, that will proudly carry Europe’s colors all the way to Hollywood!

The Avant-première section offers audiences an exclusive look at the best of French cinema set to be released in 2026.

Special Screenings will accompany our guests of honor, our thematic focus on democracy, and will hold a few surprises!

Playtime is the feel-good section of the festival, open to all audiences, whether you’re looking to be scared, to laugh, to be moved, or transported. It’s the perfect gateway into European cinema, whether you’re new to it or simply love films that are generous toward their viewers.

Les Arcs Film Festival also offers a program for young audiences, covering all ages, from kindergarten to high school, where a constellation of cinematic worlds and genres comes together.

The Arcs Summit is the leading event for independent distributors and arthouse cinema exhibitors. Each year, they come together in Les Arcs, alongside their technical and communication partners, to explore how cinemas can evolve in the digital era and in response to the rise of streaming platforms.
