Beyond silence

In this real-time, one-room drama, deaf PhD student Eva (24) arrives at the university with her sister Anna (22) as interpreter, to report sexual abuse by her supervisor. Sandrien (54), the program director, is caught off guard and initially refers her to the university’s male confidential advisor, but Eva refuses to speak to a man.
Reluctantly, Sandrien engages, warning that filing a complaint is unlikely to lead to consequences and urging Eva to consider a more “pragmatic” path. Eva begins to waver, but Anna pushes her to keep going. As the conversation intensifies, Sandrien's tone hardens and she subtly shifts responsibility onto Eva. Sensing that more is at stake, Eva begins to see through Sandrien’s carefully maintained composure.
When she finally reveals what happened behind closed doors, Sandrien’s visible inability to respond and her quiet despair become the catalyst for Eva to reclaim her voice. Only when the door closes behind the two young women does Sandrien’s composed mask fully break, and the emotions she has long buried rise to the surface.
