Andrea Arnold, president of the Feature Films Jury

We are honored to announce the president of feature films Jury will be the emblematic film director Andrea Arnold for the 9th edition of Les Arcs European Film Festival, from 16 to 23 December.

Arnold studied directing at the AFI Conservatory in Los Angeles. After making several short films, she won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film for Wasp, in 2005.

In 2006, her first film, Red Road won the Jury Prize at Cannes Film Festival and the BAFTA Carl Foreman Award. The story is set in Glasgow near the Red Road flats.

Her second film, Fish Tank, is about Mia, 15 years old, who lives with her mother. Starring Michael Fassbender and Katie Jarvis, Fish Tank won the Jury Prize at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. It also won the 2010 BAFTA for Best British Film.

Her third film, Wuthering Heights, was an adaptation of the Emily Brontë novel. The film premiered in competition at the 2011 Venice Film Festival.

Her most recent film, American Honey, follows Star, a young woman who leaves home to sell magazines door to door. The film was shot in America with Sasha Lane and Shia LaBeouf. It won Arnold her third Jury Prize at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.

For its eighth edition, it has highlighted 10 women, their cinematic projects, 10 new visions of the world by this new generation of female filmmakers.
