Louis Garrel has been acting for 30 years for the greatest European filmmakers: Rebecca Zlotowski (Platenarium), Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi (Actrices), Nicole Garcia (Mal de pierres), Maiwenn (Mon Roi), Michel Hazavicianaus (Le Redoutable), Arnaud Desplechin (Les fantômes d'Ismael) or Bernardo Bertolucci (Innocents: The Dreamers). He also recently lent his talents overseas to Greta Gerwig (Little Women) and Wes Anderson (dubbing in his animated film Isle Of Dogs). A director since 2008, his short film Petit tailleur was nominated at Les César in 2011 and his first feature Les Deux amis was in the race for the Caméra d'Or and the Cannes Queer Palm in 2015. Nominated four times at Les César for his performances, in 2006 he won the César for Most Promising Actor for his father’s Philippe Garrel Les amants réguliers, with whom he collaborated 6 times during his career. He won the Patrick Dewaere Award in 2009.


In 2018, his second feature film A Faithful Man opened the competition of the Arcs Film Festival and was rewarded in many festivals including San Sebastian and Buenos Aires.
